Calling for Beginners

John’s reputation for calling with the absolute beginner at PTAs, Church Groups, Wed- dings etc are very well documented. His patience, experience and ability to communicate, drawing upon skills learned in his ‘day job’ as a Management Training and Development Consultant, are the envy of many other callers.

However, the magic ingredient is that he is also a talented entertainer, ensuring that everyone has an enjoyable evening. John can even make physical exercise into fun! Before each dance, carefully selected to suit the ability of the dancers present, John will guide them through the figures explaining all that is needed to ensure that they can dance it well enough to concentrate on having a good time. During the dance John ‘calls’ the figures as a reminder allowing people to enjoy themselves rather than having to rely on their memory. Most dances at a Barn Dance for the beginner are based on dances from the British Isles and the United States of America although many of them are devised by John. His dances are very sought after and used by other callers throughout the world.

One thing is guaranteed - now matter what the expertise of the dancers at your dance, John will ensure that they go away having had an evening that they have enjoyed so much that they will want to do it again!
